THREE STRIKES, EVERYBODY’S

OUT: MLB LOCKOUT, 2027

ABOUT THE COMMITTEE

As the 2026 MLB postseason comes to an end, there is a sense of bittersweetness in the air. Many fans, players, and media look towards the upcoming offseason with a sense of dread. The owners and players, who last signed a collective bargaining agreement in 2022, have been embroiled in a PR war for the past year and half. Many owners are arguing for a salary cap to ensure parity, while the players argue that the owners are greedy and looking for a way to limit player salaries. Fans still remember the strike of 1994, which scarred many and halted the growth of the sport. In this crisis committee, delegates will have the face the many issues this cycle presents and save the sport of baseball.

CRISIS DIRECTOR

EVERETT LITTLE

Everett Little (he/him) is a third-year at the University of Miami, double-majoring in Political Science and International Studies. He has been in MUN for three years and has previous experience running several committees, including two previous committees for MICSUN. Outside of Model UN, Everett is involved in several organizations on campus, including greek life as a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He also enjoys reading, basketball, traveling, and of course, baseball. At MICSUN XIV, Everett is beyond excited to be the Crisis Director for “Three “Strikes, Everybody’s Out: The MLB Lockout of 2027.” Growing up a huge fan of baseball (Go Nationals!), he is very excited to bring the complex world of sports lockouts to the table. He is excited to see delegates resolve the very real issues that confound both owners and players in today’s world. With a lockout on the horizon for baseball in real life, he looks forwards to seeing the delegates come away with real, actionable solutions and demonstrate true diplomacy.
